Read This First - Important Tips For Exam Preparation

There are many overlap between the topics for the exams AWS Certified Developer Associate and AWS Certified Architect Associate. While some people consider Developer Associate easier, others consider Architect Associate easier. While Architect Associate focuses more on decision making (which service or feature should I chose), Developer Associate focuses on APIs and features as is. While Developer Associate focuses more on DynamoDB, Architect Associate focuses on RDS more. Many other topics such as IAM, S3, EC2 and VPC are mostly common.

AWS Dev and Management Tools

  1. Each account is limited to a maximum of 200 stacks. Can contact AWS for any changes. There are no limits to the number of templates.

  2. CF Template, Parameter, Output, and Resource description fields are limited to 4096 characters.

  3. You can include up to 60 parameters and 60 outputs in a CF template.

  4. Standard EC2 monitoring by CloudWatch is 5 minutes.

AWS VPC and Networking Quick Notes (Numbers)

  1. NAT Gateways can auto scale upto 10 Gbps.

  2. Flow logs per single network interface, single subnet, or single VPC in a region = 2

  3. VPCs per region = 5

DynamoDB is very important for clearing AWS Certified Developer Associate.

  1. DynamoDB synchronously replicates data across three facilities in an AWS Region.

  2. DynamoDB Streams captures a time-ordered sequence of item-level modifications in any DynamoDB table, and stores this information in a log for up to 24 hours.

  3. In DDB, the total value of an item (including all attribute names and values) cannot exceed 400KB.

AWS Database, Messaging and Application Services Quick Notes (Numbers)

  1. Elasticache for redis support both single-node and up to 15-shard clusters are available, enabling scalability to up to 3.55 TiB of in-memory data.

  2. For standard SQS queues, there can be a maximum of 120K inflight messages per queue. For FIFO SQS queues, max is 20K.

  3. The default message retention period in SQS is 4 days.

EC2 and Compute Services Quick Notes (Numbers)

  1. General Purpose SSD (gp2) EBS Volume - Ratio of 3 IOPS per GB upto 10,000 IOPS. Burst upto 3000 IOPS for volumes under 1GB.

  2. Provisioned IOPS SSD (io1) EBS Volume - For more than 10,000 IOPS. Upto 20,000 IOPS per volume.

  1. If a file upload is successful, you get 200 OK HTTP status code.

  2. HTTP status code for following error codes is 403 Forbidden: AccessDenied, AccountProblem, CrossLocationLoggingProhibited, InvalidAccessKeyId, InvalidObjectState, InvalidPayer, InvalidSecurity, NotSignedUp, RequestTimeTooSkewed, SignatureDoesNotMatch.
